Luis Vazquez has been teaching music full-time in school settings for over 12 years and is passionate about helping students of all ages discover the joy of making music. Throughout his career, he has taught thousands of students with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles, creating engaging, student-centered experiences that inspire confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of music.

Luis earned a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Drum Set Performance from the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico, a Master of Science in Education from The City College of New York, and a Master of Music Education from the University of Florida. Throughout his career, he has specialized in elementary general music with a strong emphasis on the Kodály and Orff Schulwerk approaches, creating engaging learning experiences through singing, movement, instrument playing, and creative exploration.

Over the years, a central focus of Luis's teaching is world music pedagogy, where students experience musical traditions from cultures around the globe while developing an appreciation for the many diverse ways people create, perform, and share music. He also has extensive experience in choral direction, helping students develop healthy vocal technique, musical independence, and expressive performance skills in a supportive and engaging environment.

At Creative Music Lessons, Luis teaches drum set, Latin and world percussion, classical percussion, piano, beginning guitar, ukulele, music theory, music composition and arranging, and improvisation. Whether introducing a beginner to their first instrument or helping an advanced musician refine their skills, he creates lessons that are personalized, engaging, and goal-oriented.

As a jazz-trained percussionist and dedicated music educator, Luis believes that music should be both disciplined and enjoyable. He is committed to helping students build a strong technical foundation while encouraging creativity, musical expression, and a lifelong appreciation for music. His goal is to help every student discover their unique musical voice while making each lesson a fun, rewarding, and inspiring experience.
