Laura Forero Torres

Teacher

Laura Forero Torres is an active performer, singer, and educator originally from Cali, Colombia. With a background in opera, she earned her Master’s degree at Binghamton University, where she performed with the region’s professional opera company, Tri-Cities Opera. Now based in New York City, Laura continues her performance career as a soloist and chorister with MORE Opera.

In addition to performing, Laura is a dedicated music educator who teaches elementary general music and choir to children as well as to Hispanic adults. She is an active participant in the Carnegie Hall Music Educators Workshop, where she continues to develop innovative teaching strategies and performs in a teachers-only choir. These experiences strongly inform her inclusive, engaging, and student-centered approach to teaching.

Laura describes herself as a “full artist,” bringing a wide range of creative experiences into her work. Beyond singing, she has worked as an acrobat, dance teacher, book illustrator, guitarist, and actor in small theatrical productions. This multidisciplinary background allows her to connect with students in unique ways and adapt her teaching to different learning styles.

She teaches voice, guitar, music theory, general music, beginner piano, and ukulele. With over 10 years of teaching experience in three different languages, Laura is deeply committed to making lessons fun, meaningful, and inspiring. Her goal is to help create a generation of young people who genuinely enjoy making music and art. She is passionate about both classical and Latin music, while also having experience teaching pop and musical theater. For Laura, music is not only an artistic practice but a powerful tool for social-emotional growth, self-expression, and joy found in both small and big achievements.
