Anne Clark

Teacher

Anne Clark is a music therapist and instructor with over 10 years of experience teaching lessons, and 6 years practicing music therapy. Anne has been singing since she was 4, and began studying piano at age 10. Throughout her youth, she took every opportunity her small town in northern Maine offered to make music. By the time she was a junior in high school, her voice teacher had invited her to assistant teach and substitute lessons for her on the weekends. As an undergraduate at Houghton College, Anne studied music composition and vocal performance. Throughout this time of classical instruction, she also continued to work diligently on honing her skills in contemporary styles by collaborating with other students, and taking any opportunities available to learn and perform. In 2018, Anne went on to earn her degree in Music Therapy, and continues to practice music therapy with various populations.

Anne teaches piano, voice, guitar, ukulele, saxophone, clarinet, bassoon, and violin and truly believes that her music lessons should be tailored to the individual. For her, the learning of musical skills can be an avenue for crucial self expression, as well as an opportunity to learn how to function within a growth mindset, and for some, they are even vocational training. Each student will have a different set of goals and will need different things from their lessons. As a practicing music therapist as well as a classically trained composer and performer, Anne brings adaptability to a wide range of needs, goals, and learning styles.

Anne continues to write music, record, and perform locally whenever she can while also practicing music therapy. She strives to make music with joy and curiosity daily, and always invites her students to do the same!
